Having proudly been a Formatt-Hitech Ambassador for more than two years now, and a Formatt-Hitech Featured Artist for almost one year, I am extremely proud to announce that one of my Vestrahorn (Iceland) images has been selected to be Formatt-Hitech box image for their new Firecrest Ultra packaging!
As many of you already know, for over two years I have been using exclusively Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters and, as soon as they have been available, the new and improved Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra for my Fine Art landscape photography work.
Having colour neutral filters is fundamental for my work, and thanks to the superior neutrality of Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters I save hours of my time in post-processing.
Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra’s unique construction, with the coating sandwiched in between two panes of optical glass, ensure them a longevity and a resistance to scratching unrivaled by other filters on the market.
This is fundamental for a working photographer like me, often photographing in extremely hostile environments.
Finally, the new “lapping and polishing” applied to Firecrest Ultra filters produces glass with even more clarity than previous generation Firecrest, making them much sharper than any other filter on the market, paired with any focal length.
In short, I believe that Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra are, without a doubt, the best filters on the market today. Therefore, I am sure you’ll understand why I am so proud of having one of my images chosen as Formatt-Hitech box image, and as testimonial of the quality of these incredible filters!

At the moment, my recommended Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra kit is the FIRECREST ULTRA KEN KAMINESKY SIGNATURE EDITION, which includes 3 ND filters (3, 6 and 10 stops) and 2 Grad ND filters (2 and 3 stops), plus the Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 100mm filter holder with built-in ultra slim Firecrest polariser and adapter rings to use it with 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm lenses.
To complete your kit, I would add:
– Two more Firecrest Ultra Grad ND filters, respectively 4 and 5 stops (1.2 and 1.5 density strength): FIRECREST ULTRA 100MM SOFT-EDGE GRADS.
– A Firecrest Ultra 13 stops ND filter (3.9 density strength): FIRECREST ULTRA 100MM STANDARD ND to do long exposures in daylight.
– A 3 stops Reverse-Grad ND filter (0.9 density strength): FIRECREST ULTRA 100MM REVERSE GRADS to balance the light at sunset and sunrise with a straight horizon in the frame.
Sadly, after years of cooperation with Formatt-Hitech, in 2021 I severed my ties with them and moved on.
